Great Get Together Picnic in the Park
We will be holding a big get together to enjoy the summer weather and catch up as a community. Bring a picnic and meet neighbours, listen to jazz band and join in on the games.

Carols in the park 2016
Mulled wine, mince pies and jazz music accompanied our annual Carol in the Park. The weather was kinder this year and we were warmed by a cheering brazier.

Wreath commemoration for WW2
Bob Hucklesby came again with some of his friends to lay his own wreath to commemorate his return to Southampton on 18th November 1945.

Heritage weekend celebration
FTQP had a stall at the Heritage Weekend celebration in St Joseph’s Hall. Despite poor weather (again), lots of visitors came through the doors and we gained a couple of new members.

Big lunch Picnic
The picnic's poor weather forced us to have our picnic in St Joseph’s Hall rather than the park but over 20 people still enjoyed some excellent jazz music – with a great singer and a good catch up with friends and supporters of the park.

Friends of Town Quay Park AGM 2016
25 members and supporters attended our AGM to learn about the last year’s work and to discuss the plans for improving the park. We also heard from Rebecca Kinge of Dangerous Ideas Southampton about their work in supporting use of public open space.

Wreath Laying for 70th anniversary for ending of WW2
Wreath laying by Bob Hucklesby who is one of the last surviving WW2 veterans who was a POW at a Japanese camp, and members of FEPOW to commemorate 70th anniversary of the safe return to Southampton of over 20,000 people.

Wreath laying in the FEPOW Garden
Children from St John’s School Bug club helped with the laying of poppy wreaths in the FEPOW garden. They listened as FTQP volunteers discussed the 2 world wars, the concern of families of FEPOW, giving thanks for the safe return of many and commemorating those who didn’t come back.

Over 30 members and supporters attended a lively AGM on 19th June. Plans for the future were discussed and will continue to develop.

Quiz evening @ Duke of Wellington
A very enjoyable quiz was attended by nearly 40 members and friends. The winning team with a very impressive score was Late Forties. Apart from having fun we raised £225 for our funds.

Unveiling of FEPOW commemorate memorial
This event was the unveiling of a memorial in the park to commemorate the many thousands of Far Eastern Prisoners of War (FEPOW) who were repatriated through Southampton after the second World War.

Tai Chi in the park & Love your Park tidy-up
Tai Chi is a very gentle Chinese martial art. It is a slow sequence of movements, all in a standing position, and is suitable for people of all ages from the young to seniors. There are many health benefits for those who practice regularly, especially as people get older.

Friends of Town Quay Park AGM 2011
The annual AGM looked over what had been accomplished over the last year in terms of activities and what the communities reaction to the association. We also discussed what changes and improvements have been made to the Town Quay Park.

May Day Celebrations
Friends, neighbours and visitors celebrated together when, with the help of King John's Morris and the generous loan of a maypole from St John's school, FTQP welcomed in the spring with our May Day revels.

Commemoration Plaque Ceremony at the French Garden
The Mayor of Southampton unveiled a plaque provided by The Huguenot Society of Britain and Ireland at 2pm in the French Garden in Town Quay Park.

Remembrance of Town Quay Park and WWII
This was a day to remember the people who lived in houses on the Town Quay site. On the 30th November 1940 a bombing raid destroyed the buildings and many people were killed and wounded.

Music in the City
As part of Southampton City Council's 'Music in the City' project, Quilter's Vault played host to a number of free live music sets in October 2010.

May Day Picnic in the Park
There were so many really nice local park users and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make new friends! The committee were fantastic hosts, introducing themselves and encouraging participants to talk to each other.
